Notes Formatting / Maximum Characters

Postby blt7cd on Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:52 am

At my shop, we type a ton of notes for our customer. We have a template setup to include on every invoice to make it a little easier. I have 5 "headings" that we use. We type out what the customer stated the problem was, our method of diagnosing the issue, what we found during our diagnostic, what we did to fix it, and any future work recommended.

It would be nice if I could actually hit enter a couple of times and leave a space or two in between these headings. However, if I do, the "space" doesn't print on the invoice. It gets ignored and everything gets jammed together. It would also be nice if the max character rule was taken out for the notes. I have to split that template into 3 templates to allow me to type everything I need. Then if I have a section with a lot of notes, I have to use yet another note to connect it all together and make it look pretty. I'm not asking for Microsoft word formatting or anything; just a few basic ideas.

Anyone have any ideas/tips?

I've been successful at entering a period on a line to act as a space. It's barely visible on the print out. Where does this occur, because I enter spaces between paragraphs in lots of places in Manager and they show for me?

I have to use the period to act as a space too. Instead of using a period, I'd like the ability to just space down. But it won't let me?

In which field will it not allow you to space down? Was it notes? I space down all the time and it works, but I may not be doing the same thing as you. I just hit the 'enter' key.

I borrowed someones earlier idea of making a line like this
==========
between notes or repair info
==========
it's very visible and helps change a person's thought process between each subject.
I don't know the secret to success, but the secret to failure is trying to please everybody. - Bill Cosby
