Vendor Search, WIP Display + Tire Pressure?

Tips & ideas for using the mgmt software

Vendor Search, WIP Display + Tire Pressure?

Postby professionalautotech on Fri Mar 16, 2012 11:27 am

I am new to the forum but have used the manager program for 8 months.

Do any of you have any issues with the way vendor search is set up? Where you have to go to vendor set up and scroll down to find a vendors information.

WIP display where custumer and company name can't be displayed together?

Here in California where tire presure checks are mandated and must documented in the R.O. have no fields to fill out.

Tech support suggested to vent here. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your questions. Please note that the forum is organized by specific discussion areas (Settings, Parts, Printing, etc) and it would work better for all concerned in the future to post these questions as separate posts.

I'm not picturing anyone in support using the word 'venting' but we get the general idea. It's recommended that new members read the forum rules and look around a bit before posting to see how it works: viewtopic.php?f=171&t=3

In addition to subject matter experts from the company, this forum is populated with many helpful users exchanging ideas of how to best use the software.

To better address your questions, first of all please confirm which version of the software you are using so the answers you get are accurate.

I was told by tech support to post the issues that I am having with the software and they might make changes. the reason I ask those questions was to find out if any of you are having this issues which I think are valid. but tech support told me that not enough people are complaining, or asking.
on top of not been able to look up a vendor with out scrolling down. when entering a part into a W.O. the same thing happens. you must scroll down. intead of typing the first letters and the system starts to narrow down which vendor you got the part from.
I am running vertion 5.9.5.143.

If you are referring to the Vendor field in the Part Item Entry (or Edit) window, etc, you may not be aware that you may access the Vendor name to fill in by REPEATING the first letter until it appears. Perhaps this was never discussed, here's an example:

Baker Parts = press 'B' once
Bendix Supply = press 'B' twice
Boyer Auto = press 'B' 3 times

If you miss it, it then repeats the cycle.

NOTE: When ordering catalog parts electronically, this field populates automatically.

As to the Tire Pressure readings, these need to be entered as a Note line.
TIP: You may store a canned Note by creating it in Setup - Standard Descriptions - Notes. then all you need to add is the actual figures to print that on the invoice.

If i want to add a note i commonly use like Tire pressure - l/f r/f r/r l/r . i have an order set aside in work in progress that i have a bunch of these on. I just copy and post. On the order i'm posting to i open the note window and post to that. By doing this i can edit or put the tire pressure figures in the spaces. It's a working tablet. if you post the template to the order, at least i haven't found a way to edit it easily.

I have a bunch of these i use. I know there are ways to use other programs to create orders that will do anything needed but it's way beyond my scope. Ric seems to know all the ins and outs. sometimes i read his posts about exporting, importing, this system, that program, after a few sentences all i hear is a dull drone..............
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
