Cut Fuel Lines & Punctured Tanks

Cut Fuel Lines & Punctured Tanks

Postby gatorgirl » Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:03 am

We have been having alot of customers bringing in vehicles that have been vandalized due to criminals who think they have to take high gas prices in their own hands. We have had tanks that have been punctured and filler necks that have been cut. Just got another in this morning! It's such a shame. We even had a fleet of vans all vandalized and these people used these vans to deliver food to the elderly who couldnt leave their homes! Im just so upset over all of this!

So have you got the group yet that wraps chains around converter and tries to remove that way? I have a brother in law that work bridges on the expressway, he had a converter stole from his car while he was at work. He was less than 100 yards from the car for about the whole day. they are getting gutsy. shots have been fired around here (not at the shop) over it.

Guy north of here woke up to a strange noise. Found a couple of people with a chain wrapped around his exhaust yanking on it like the car is stuck. When the owner woke up the gun discharged.

My wife is a site manager for Meals On Wheels so I can relate to the angst of the food not getting delivered because of this moral bankruptcy.

people opening their summer cottages and finding all the copper pipe missing. ya would kinda think that the police would startt hitting all the metal salvage yards just to shake it up a bit. i know around here the guy that buy's my converters takes a detailed record f the car and replacement date.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

That is the fleet that was hit. That's not counting all the numerous other working citizens that are finding this an issue!

There have been a few reports from Milwaukee (about 50 miles south of here), but nothing locally. The news report said the holes were drilled. You know they had to be using a cordless. Gas + Electric motor  Maybe one of these idiots will get what they deserve.

Haven't seen either of these here personally but it is on the news all the time. Stinks that people become so desperate that they do this.

Hey Tim, get any flood cars yet? How's the water level by you?

I just read an email I'd like to share. Don't know if it's true but if it's not, Im sure in a matter of time it will be:

A woman said her son found his license plate missing so he called the police to file a report. They told him people were stealing the plates to get free gas. Given the rise in gas prices, people have taken to stealing license plates, putting them on their car, then getting gas and running. The gas station will have "your" license plate # and you could be in trouble for "pump and run." Check your car periodically to be sure you still have a plate. If you should find it missing, file a report immediately!!! Keep an eye on your license plate! Make sure you always know it's there! When the license plate is reported as the "drive off vehicle", it's YOU they contact! Be aware!!!! Be aware of your license plates, most of us never look to see if the plates are there or not.

I usually dont believe in things I get thru email but I thought Id share it "just in case".

No, we have been pretty lucky. While the river is 3-4 feet over flood stage the county has seen very little damage. Other than a few road closures and flooded basements. Nothing like the flood of '98, we saw all kinds of electrical problems after that one. First question to customers with strange symptoms for the next year was "Did the vehicle get flooded or sit in any amount of water?"

Lake Delton, over in The Dells got hit pretty hard though. I can't imagine a lake that size draining in 20 minutes, http://www.wyowtv34.com/Streamer/stream ... p?ID=26157

the sad fact is that if my dogs wake me up and i see someone draing my gas, confront them and kick their asses into next week i'm screwed. the law will prosecute me for assault and battery. now on the other hand if somehow the person got gas all over them and a static spark should ignite them would i run for the phone or hose?
