Is that all??

Thanks for the update, just makes me wonder, who took the 30 minutes to read all that? And of those 2 people which one understands it all??

I did suggest earlier that it needed to be formatted for public consumption.

Here is the short answer:

The program is better now, and will be better in the future!

All kidding aside, I do like the new updater....

Re: 6.5.42 ? Update Shout out to the great Tech Support!

Postby rhillig » Fri Aug 29, 2014 3:28 pm

Just have to give a shout out to the awesome tech support team at Mitchell. Finally had a few minutes to call & get my updater working! She walked me through fixing all my computers. Did not realize we did not need to worry about mapping the network drive to each computer. I'm updated to the newest & greatest on each workstation now!!

:D :D :D :D

I still have not received the update. Is this going out in phases?

We are still on 6.5.37 - should we have gotten our update by now?

Yes, it goes out in phases. Imagine this, ya'll decide to have a big old sale, 50% off all tire sales. and you take Every single customer and send them a coupon. You have any idea what kind of hell you would pay? you would be so jammed up with phone calls you couldnt operate. Guess what folks.....Tech support is the same way. Why would you release an update to 2000+ (just a wild guess) folks all at once, then have to take care of any issues from the update ON TOP OF any normal things you have to take care of. Ya'll flip out when tech support takes a minute to fix your issues, if Mitchell gave us all an update at the same time, hell you'd be lucky to talk to tech support for a week.

Trust me, if Tim and JD say they are releasing it, they are.

Ok, have vented, i am off my soap box.

Thanks Rich, I have been in fire drill mode all day with two training sessions and a dead furnace for starters.

Please bear with us as we work out the details of the Updater process; I can tell you that we release it almost like the air from a balloon at first. Give it to 100 shops and watch the phones. Make fixes if needed, if okay then allow it for hundreds, then thousands. It has to work this way or the cost in terms of service is too great.

I cannot say off the bat which account should have which release by now; I suggest sending an EMAIL to tech support who now can access a screen to determine more about which version you should have or what to expect. Thanks in advance.

I totally understand the release schedule - just wasn't sure if the update was supposed to be totally out yet.

So how do the updates work? We updated to 6.5.20 this week. I saw it takes a couple days to see updates. Do we have to do something to get to the 6.5.47 or more? We keep the server (host) on all day. Just curious.

Thanks, ARS

Your account number should be added to the update server so that it will talk to your Manager SE 6.5.20 and offer the updates. As above, please contact tech support to confirm your account # is set to receive updates.

Sorry... I meant to say the host server is on all the time... day & night.

So Tim.. does everyone have to call in their account number to get updates or is it because we have not gotten the updates. HOw many days should we wait? Wait until Monday??

Thanks, ARS

Groups of accounts are added to the update server; this is a combination of new sales AND updates for existing customers. Updates should happen within 2-3 days in most cases.

I've been made aware today that the process may have been slowed this month (October 2014) as it is a Manager 5.9 timeout period that tech support has to factor in. If you don't see anything by Monday, please call in.

And yes, we are working on a way to add ALL updates right after the 6.5 update disc install is run; stay tuned
