Discussion of migration from legacy 5.9 to SE 6.x

Finally Upgrading to SE - I Have Question?

Finally Upgrading to SE - I Have Question?

Postby cbhale » Wed Sep 16, 2015 11:43 am

I have been through an upgrade to se at another shop and it worked fine, so as long as it goes a smooth as that one I will be happy!!

My real question is about the scheduler!!

I remember a few years ago when SE first came out that one of the feature requests was a improved / better scheduler. Is this something that was finally replaced or is it still the same one SE comes with??

Thanks,
Chuck

Same one, although the upgraded one is being worked on as we type.

Thanks for the fast reply!! It's good to hear, it sounds like a long time coming - but I am sure that it will be worth the wait...

No problem!

Here is a thread with a few screenshots of the ongoing work to the scheduler.

I have no information officially on that. Tim would likely have a better handle on time frames, but those tend to change as priorities shift and obstacles arise.

I can say that I'm as excited as you to experience this particular upgrade.

definitely agree with you and completely understand things pop up or issues and slow the process down, was just curious if they had a time frame or goal set. Not a big deal just itching to use this.

The goal for the updated version with a new scheduler is late fall. There is a fair amount of prep work we have to undertake here. For example, the new scheduler will work in a similar fashion to Outlooks scheduler, with automotive slants attached. We have to start priming the training pump for user prior to it's release. We also MUST get the message out that the new version of Manager that included the updated Appointment/Calendar module will not install on XP or Vista workstations: Support for Windows XP and Vista will end with the next release of Manager SE, so we need to get this message out first: New features and enhanced functionality require updated components not available on retired Microsoft operating systems. We also intent to have several pre-selected shops use the new version with the updated scheduling before general release. In short, there is a long list of planning, but the ship will ultimately sail!
