5.9->6.4 Upgrade Questions

Hey guys,

I just upgraded from 5.9.0.7 to 6.4.608 today and have noticed a few things have changed that weren't to service writer's liking. I spent the last few hours searching for some fixes and managed to find several answers, but here are a few of the ones still lingering.

1. Looking at my two screen shots here, you can see that the 6.4 has a font that looks bigger and bolder, taking up more room, and it also has more space between the lines. Anyone know how to change this?

This is not a user adjustment; all of the display grids in SE are of a newer design.

Thanks Tim for the answer. So, the font that is used on WIP is unchangable? Is this also the case with the printed invoices? I find that the font on the 5.9 invoices was classier looking. On that same note, I like how I can add a company logo (still needs to do this) but are there any other changes that you can make to change the invoice to be more aesthetic (in my eyes)?

The document templates are created in Crystal Reports and it's not for the faint of heart. Depending on the output you're working on there's a few user changes available (adding Followup on Recommendations letters) but generally it's changing out the templates for whether certain information is displayed (part numbers, labor hours, revisions, etc.) or not.

From time to time we do upgrade the templates to improve their appearance. Here's a recent thread about color text that includes an installer to place templates like the one below into your system: viewtopic.php?f=206&t=7855

When confirming parts on an invoice, 6.4 does not change the color or the invoice total regardless whether the part is unconfirmed or confirmed. On 5.9, it used to change colors and added to the total.

This function was incredibly useful when doing fleet work that requires multiple approval steps when repairing and invoicing a vehicle. I searched the forums but haven't found anyone else with the same issue.

*edit* I should add that I tried to do the Configuration->Special Maintenance->Grid Line Colors but there wasn't any options about changing confirmed/unconfirmed parts. As for the invoice totaling, that one completely baffles me. Couldn't find anything, I just know that 5.9 used to do it.

I can assure you that neither the color nor the invoice total changes in 5.9 when a part is confirmed. I am still using 5.9 today.

There is an unlabeled column that places a small plus sign in the part row when a part is confirmed.

**Please track the "BRUSH, DISK" part to see what I am looking to do. Hopefully these pictures make it easier to understand what I am hoping to do. Also, this was version 5.9.0.7

The BRUSH DISK is red and unconfirmed. The part will cost $520.20 when it is confirmed. Right now, the invoice total is only $53.56

I have now confirmed and saved the part. I just doubled clicked the window again to show. So, the part line color is now blue and the invoice total has been increased to reflect that price of the brush disk.

Here is my latest problem. When trying to unpost an invoice, this is the error that I get. I have tried restarting Mitchell as well as the computer but nothing has fixed it yet.

This last issue will likely require tech support. First make sure that all workstations are on exactly the same version. 6.4.608 or 6.4.612 most likely.

In regards to the 5.9.0.x samples above showing changes (color & totals) when part is confirmed, part of this is 5.9 behaving differently (reported as bug) and the user settings.

Hey Timbre, thanks for pointing me in the direction of getting on the support phoneline. The problem ended up being that we weren't on 6.4.612 and getting this on the host and all the workstations seemed to fix database error with applying payments and being able to post/unpost invoices.

I asked the phone support guy I was with yesterday, and he said that they must have removed this feature from the program with is a huge shame. I'll be adding it to my list of requests/recommendations thread. Oh well.
