Part #'s in inventory

Part #'s in inventory

Example: Bulk oil, Vendor - Big River Oil, 3 Different weight oils. What would you use for part numbers for these 3? I have them as 5w20, 5w30, 10w30. What I wanted to do for example was create "Conoco" and within that have the 3 options populate when building a estimate or an RO. Same could be said with bulk supplies such as brake cleaner, brake line, brake fluid, etc..... Issue a part number of "Brake" and have a list populate with items within that. Easier for multiple users to remember fewer part numbers,

Here's a suggestion conoco 5w20 could be 5w20C C is for Conoco 5w20M M is for Mobil etc. Looking up the products will come up in order by weight not vendor

Another angle would be to use the Alternate Part in conjunction with these part records. It would pop up as lists to choose from:

part #1 = 5w20C
Alternate Part = Conoco

part #2 = 5w30C
Alternate Part = Conoco

part #3 = 10w30C
Alternate Part = Conoco

Then when in the part item entry window, type 'conoco' and all the part records that have Conoco in Alt Part field will display in a list box to select. You can use this a lot of different ways.

That's how we sort all the different antifreeze products we stock. All have an ALT # of AZ. Type in AZ and all of our antifreeze products pop up. Magic.

PERFECT !!!!!! Love this idea. Thank you very much. Using the Alternate part number Conoco did EXACTLY what I wanted, and I have added the "C" to my Conoco. Will build my Schaeffers oil the same way now, as well as some other items.
