Tax Exempt Settings

Postby Brian A on Mon Mar 23, 2009 6:30 am

How can I permantly change a customer from tax exempt to taxable? If I go to the tax rates applied screen and switch it, it just goes back on the next order. Thank you, Brian

Try doing it from the customer screen. See if that doesn't make it permanent.

On the customer screen if I click on the tax button it shows the correct rates but when you go to order then click the options button and tax rates it goes back to church rates. I can change it but it keeps going back. Thanks again. Brian

If you're making a tax change in an 'after the fact' manner as this you need to also change the Vehicle screen tax button for each of that customers vehicles.

The Tax setting for vehicles follows what is initially set for customer; after that it requires individual attention.

What is strange is the tax rates were normal for years on these customers, i don't know how they got changed, but it looks like I got it switched back. Thank you for the response. Brian

First you need to switch the customer to tax. Do that at the Customer Tab. Go to the Tax button and mark them as needed.

Any EXISTING vehicles for this customer will ALL have to be changed manually. Go to the Vehicle tab and the Tax button. Mark all vehicles as as needed.

Any OPEN ORDERS will need to be manually adjusted as well. After this, all new orders and new vehicles should be correct.
