Adding Closed Dates on Scheduler Calendar

Postby Kathleen on Mon Aug 30, 2010 11:04 am

Is there a way to add our company's Closed Dates in the Scheduler Calendar so that a customer doesn't inadvertently get scheduled on a date that we might be closed due to conferences, expos, holiday, etc?

Haha! You're going to laugh, but we manually input 1 job for 100 hours. When someone looks at the schedule, they know right away.

Funny you should mention that. I'm currently entering the 99.99 hrs as a "trigger". I just thought it'd be nice if there was a way that you'd see either the word CLOSED or even have the day block a different color so that you automatically know that it's a day that you shouldn't schedule any work in. Great thought though!

No kidding....great minds think alike. You make a good point about the closed thing. The scheduler is slated for a revamp. That should be considered.

the color idea would be great. if the scheduler is slated for a revamp what about adding national holidays to it. like the calendar listings.

I go to the schedule, click the add button and in the name field enter CLOSED or HOLIDAY. It shows up on the schedule and I change the time to 12:00 a.m. so it is the first item at the top.

That's pretty much what we do. The addition of 100 hours on that job it allows users to be warned when in Month View. If you don't, you'll only see "1 Job" and no hours in Month View. Just an addition layer of prevention. (We need all we can get here  )
