SE 6.4 And OD5 Session Errors

Postby Cory on Wed Jan 04, 2012 9:45 am

I keep getting this error a couple times per day. It is frustrating due to the fact that I need to shut down Manager and restart when this happens. I have called support twice and they keep telling me to delete the cookies. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. Does anyone have a solution for me? Happens on all computers running xp or windows 7, Happens from within the manager program, if I go to the od5.com it is normal.

I only get this if I forget and leave it open overnight , I now log out each night and reopen in the morning and have never seen it again.

One factor is the fact that OD5.com session access timer runs completely independent from Manager SE authentication. Those who close SE workstations out in the evening, generally avoid this lack of access occuring the next work day.

We know this can be an issue and it's already noted for future improvement in this regard.

Ok, I understand now. I wonder why tech support never told me this. Am I ok if I just close SE or do I have to close down the entire PC? We rarely shut down the pc, but I could get used to shutting down SE.

"one of us" here gets it when we don't shut down Manager for the night. If we forget to shut down Manager we forget to shut down OD5 and get the warning.

Is there a reason why you wouldn't shut the computers down when not open? Is there an advantage to this?

I leave mine on for updates and for the DPR part of the program, also don't have to wait for a re-boot in the morning.

Also from time to time, I might need to stop by the shop and hop on the net for a min and it helps if the computer is already on. I restart my computer a couple times a week at closing time to make sure it stays nice and happy and don't get too mad at me.....

That's why you're a forum member.

Shutting down and startup process are the hardest things your PCs do; sometimes you have to re-start to clear a condition but it should be an exception. Close programs and let the PC slumber until you need it.
