Another angle would be to use the Alternate Part in conjunction with these part records. It would pop up as lists to choose from:

part #1 = 5w20C
Alternate Part = Conoco

part #2 = 5w30C
Alternate Part = Conoco

part #3 = 10w30C
Alternate Part = Conoco

Then when in the part item entry window ...

Part #'s in inventory

Example: Bulk oil, Vendor - Big River Oil, 3 Different weight oils. What would you use for part numbers for these 3? I have them as 5w20, 5w30, 10w30. What I wanted to do for example was create "Conoco" and within that have the 3 options populate when building a estimate or an RO. Same could be said ...

I am working with Oreilly's and Mitchell tech support. This is the work around we come up with for now. The new 7.0 update coming out soon carries this issue as well. Spent 1 1/2 hrs total on phone today with both support teams, this is why I posted the heads up, no need anybody else going through ...

We dropped it for reasons such as this.
