Can the line pressures be tested to determine if it is an internal problem.

Guys, I've been keeping up with this one and I'm stumped. We had one of those Mazda SUV's that has basically the same trans as a lot of ford's, 500 etc. Came in with a solenoid code and it checked just outside the acceptable range. Replaced solenoid (which came with the valve body $1,300.00) and you guessed it! No fix. The trans computer is located in the sensor under the manual lever control. Another $1,500.00! Fixed it. $3,300.00 for what I consider minor repairs. Harsh engagements are almost always excessive line pressure. I have more trouble with Mazda and Saturn and sometimes E4OD's than any other tranny when it comes to diag.
I must of missed it but what is the current mileage on this one?

if it's the mazda tranny i'de watch my scanner and see if the trans module is telling it to shift into od. this can be the result of a bad signal. i believe the easiest way to tell if it's a ford or mazda tranny is the mazda one has a metal tube that runs across the top of it near where the rear mount bolts up. i've seen situations like this where a code isn't thrown because the pcm isn't recieving enough input. see if the shift solonoids are opening and closing in proper sequence.

If your scanner will let you you can make sure it shifts when commanded. Some will show pressures if Im not mistaken. I dont work on many import trans

Did you scope the sensor output? If the output is lost as the code indicates then it's verified. If the code returns and the output is not lost, then you may have a PCM issue. If the output is lost, and you know the sensor is good and you know the wiring is good, perhaps there is an air-gap issue or some damaged teeth on the reluctor. Confirm what the code is telling you first. The waveform will tell you. Scope it!!!

That's curious. The diagnostic routine does not mention the TPS. What exactly is wrong with it? What relation to the code? I have some hunches.
